Iranian President Congratulates Muslim Leaders on Arrival of Ramadan

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani Muslim on Monday felicitated Islamic countries’ leaders on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.

Sending separate messages to leaders of Muslim states, the president hoped that during Ramadan, the month of divine blessings, Muslims could benefit from the spiritual aspects of the holy month and take more steps on the path of strengthening brotherhood and spreading calm and security in the Islamic Ummah.

He also call on leaders of Muslim countries to pioneer for making a world free from violence and extremism through collective participation, consensus and solidarity as well as providing a real image of the Islam.

President Rouhani further referred to the current sensitive juncture in the history of Muslims and the spread of a distorted image of Islam in the world and underlined the necessary for presenting to the world a real image of Islam, which is religion of peace, friendship and fraternity.

At the end of his messages, the president wished success for heads of Muslim states and Islamic governments and nations during the holy month.

The annual fasting month on the Islamic lunar calendar began on Monday in several countries, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen, where the crescent moon has been sighted.

The month began in other Muslim countries such as Iran on Tuesday.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast as an effective way of practicing self-discipline. They are also expected to strengthen their character through self-restraint, charitable-giving and introspection.
