Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani stated that unity among Muslims is one of the most important issues in today’s society and stressed that the enemies seek to divide Sunnis and Shi’as to achieve their goals.

Speaking to a group of visiting teachers, prayer leaders and managers of a Sunni seminary in the Afghan capital, Kabul, Grand Ayatollah Mohammad-Ali Alavi-Gorgani stressed that the most important issue of the current era is unity among Muslims.

The revered scholar added that Muslims in the world today are under watch by the enemies in order to benefit from their smallest mistakes, saying: “Muslims must be aware that in all conditions, the enemies are thinking of how to attack Islam.”

He emphasized that given these conditions, the unity of Muslims is essential and stressed to the Afghan scholars that they must unite against the enemies of the Sunnis and Shi’as because their aim is to strike against Islam and not only to create dissension among Sunnis and Shi’as.

Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani said the enemies want to sow dissension among Muslims and through this means, hope that Muslims will fight each other because the enemies have a problem with Islam itself and in order to achieve their goals, they don’t spare anyone.

He noted that Sunnis and Shi’as in Iran’s northeastern Golestan province live together as friends and brothers and that every religion has its specific own beliefs and that Muslims should work together and unite so we can reach our common goals.

Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani added that Muslims must behave in a way that would satisfy the Prophet and that Muslims should not treat each other in a way that would lead to animosity among them because this would satisfy the enemies and allow them to interfere and influence internal issues.
